Why a Labradoodle?
We have found that we love the temperament of Labrador Retrievers. When bred and trained correctly, they are loyal, gentle, and obedient to a fault. They are also hearty dogs that tend to live long healthy lives. The biggest issue is the hair! Labs shed! Poodles on the other hand are non shedding dogs that have a similar build to Labs. They are however more prone to hip and skeletal issues. They also tend to be some of the smartest dogs you can find. This is great until the figure out how to get into trouble, or begin to be more independant. Breeding these two dogs together produces the best of both of these breeds.
Why F1 Labradoodles
We prefer the temperament and health benefits of the F1 Labradoodle. Although this leaves opportunity for some shedding, it is usually minimal at worst. We prefer to keep our dogs with as many lab tendencies, both socially and healthily as possible.
What are the different generations of Labradoodles
F1 = 50% Labrador and 50% Poodle: This is Lab to Poodle cross; this is first generation, resulting in healthier offspring!
F1B = 25% Labrador Retriever and 75% Poodle (F1 Labradoodle and Poodle cross): This is Labradoodle bred back to Poodle.
F2 = F1 Labradoodle and F1 Labradoodle cross: With this combination you get the same percentage of Lab Poodle mix as you would an F1 Labradoodle.
F3 = F2 Labradoodle and F2 Labradoodle cross.
Multi-generation = F3 or higher generation Labradoodle and F3 or higher generation Labradoodle cross.
